Dark Brown Cherry

We love to create solid hardwood tables, like this unique Dark Cherry farm table. It has our classic 4 1/4″ turned legs, is 7’x40″, and has a thick 1 1/4″ top, complete with breadboard ends and has been hand scraped. Crafted for a client in the Raleigh area, we particularly love to work with North Carolina clients. We are kinda biased I guess, being North Carolina natives, but truly do appreciate your business! This particular table and bench to match were ordered with these unique Country Squire chairs to compliment it. These handmade chairs feature pegged joints for extra strength and the spindles have been shaped with a drawknife. We are proud to offer this new line of handcrafted chairs with our tables! Enjoy!

Ah Tiger maple… (FOR SALE!)

Tiger, curly or figured maple is an aberration that occurs in all the species of maple on an irregular and unpredictable basis, and changes a good, utilitarian hardwood into one of our true domestic exotics. The best description I can come up with is that the growth of the wood fibers is distorted to produce various types of figure that are independent of the wood grain itself. I have heard many explanations as to why the lumber distorts to such a beautiful form.  Collectively the maples probably have the greatest variety of figure of any domestic hardwood. The term tiger is used to describe the type of figure that has stripes running perpendicular to the grain of the wood, vaguely resembling the coat of a tiger. This is one of the most popular and available types of figure. The contrast in the figure is very good, and finishing actually helps to bring out and accentuate the figure. All our tiger maple is hand selected for each piece of furniture we build and chosen from the same tree to insure consistent markings.

This particular 7’x40″ tiger maple table has 3″ tapered legs, and a sliding dovetail to help keep these gorgeous wide boards flat.¬†THIS PIECE IS CURRENTLY IN OUR STOCK AND IS FOR SALE FOR $2400.¬†IF YOU ARE INTERESTED IN THIS PIECE, CALL THE SHOP TODAY! Enjoy!

Reclaimed Chestnut Farm Table

Brought back to life, this chestnut wood has been transformed! A client commissioned us to create this farm table from some wood he had from an old barn that was on his property. We love to hear stories of where the wood we use comes from, especially when it is a century old, and are honored to be able to repurpose it hopefully for another hundred years! This wood had such unique character, we wanted to keep it intact and highlight the holes left by worms and just age itself, so we used some of it for the top of the piece. It was handplaned, and crafted into a 3’x6′ farm table with 3 1/2″ turned legs, and all stained. Complete with a matching bench, we know this piece will be used and loved for a very long time!

Give us a call if you have some old unique wood that you’d like transformed into a wonderful piece of furniture! (336)372-8995
